San Francisco

dsc01448We have Virginia visitors here for Spring break and it is so much fun!  I can’t believe how much I’ve missed these kids and how great it is to have them here!

Today Ellie went to a friends house and the rest of us went to San Francisco.  We started out at Pier 39 for lunch and then Marc and I took Avery and Jonathan to the Bay Side Aquarium while the big kids shopped.dsc01468

After that Marc took Jonathan and Avery home for Jonathan’s lacrosse game and I took the big kids to Union Square.  I love Union Square, it is such a vibrant, happy place.  Plus Macy’s is having their annual flower show.  A whole level is full of fabulous live flower arrangements.  Which I have no pictures of.   But enjoy these:

Try Skype!

This is so cool!  You can download Skype, and then if your computer has a built in web cam (LIKE MY NEW ONE) you can video chat your friends.  Oh, provided they have one too.  But I just checked and you can buy a web cam and add it to your oldish computer for pretty cheap.  And it would totally be worth it because then you could video chat me!  Because you miss me.

Paige and I had a lot of fun doing this the other day, I showed her the whole house and everything.  And then today all our kids chatted and Ellie and Lola had an hour long virtual play date.  And Jonathan showed Matt his Halloween costume. How great is that?  Do it.  Do it.  And then call me.

Nerves

Today we will go to church in our new ward; I’m nervous.

When we first moved to Virginia it took me forever to make friends because I was so insecure and thought no one would like me because they already had enough friends or something dumb like that.  When I think about it now I can’t really recall what I was thinking because it was so dumb.  Dumb.

Now in my old age I have learned that people are pretty spectacular and probably just waiting to be my friends and maybe even need my friendship, but still, I get nervous on the first day of meeting my new ward family.  Plus I forgot to pack church clothes so I’ll have to wear like a skirt and t-shirt or something.  I know that’s superfluous, but still, I hope my hair looks good.

My plan is to be like Sara Slatter and Leslie Garner who are so cool and make friends so easily.  But first I’ll have to get some great stories and fun family traditions.  Wish us luck, I want my kids to make friends too.

Speaking of friends, here are some pictures of Maddie and her sweet friends who threw her a going away party wherein they dressed up and went boweling and to Potbellies.  These are all friends she made in the one year we were in Fairfax.  It gives me hope.

Clever Little Insomnia

Last night I decided it would be a fine idea to stay awake worrying instead of sleeping.  That way I could think about all of the stuff I still need to do, but not actually do anything productive.  Good times.

I was also able to spend a good amount of the night thinking about our friends who have been so kind, supportive, and loving.  Jan and Leslie have been over here organizing, and packing, Paul has been moving furniture, taking apart the trampoline, and taking us to dinner.  Maurine and Micaela showed up with lunch for us during our garage sale ($550 BAM!).  They are so generous and efficient I’m afraid we might actually be ready to move.  Deep breaths.

I don’t think I’ve ever felt this sad and happy at the same time.
